How Dynamics 365 sales automations help businesses grow

Written by TD SYNNEX | 04 August 2025 00:00:00 Z

As the Microsoft adage goes, the modern sales team has to “do more with less”, which is where Dynamics 365 sales automations come in.

Today’s sales teams have to build bigger pipelines, filled with quality opportunities, to ensure growth. But they often have less time and resources to do it.

Until recently, a large part of the sales qualification process simply had to be done manually. Opportunity tracking, chasing leads, and responding to prospects were time-consuming but ultimately required a human touch.

AI automations, agents, and insights have changed all of this. While people see AI as a buzzword at times, the impact it can have on processes, employee productivity, and deal conversion rates is no joke.

Tasks that previously required a lot of time and manual effort can now be automated in the Dynamics CRM, allowing salespeople to focus on what really matters – customer relationships and closing deals.

Meet Dynamics 365: Your sales team’s new best friend

Dynamics 365 is more than just a customer database; it’s a powerful sales enablement platform that integrates Microsoft 365, Copilot, Business Central, and more. It provides businesses with real-time insights, guided selling tools, and automations that drastically enhance sales operations and ultimately drive growth. Dynamics 365 sales can help you:

  • Scale operations without the need to hire more employees.
  • Supercharge sales processes and strategy, using automations and AI-insights.
  • Boost revenue by streamlining workloads, so sales teams can focus on growth & retention.

Dynamics 365 CRM integrates with almost every solution Microsoft has to offer, as well as most third-party apps. These integrations unlock new benefits and features that increase efficiency and provide solutions for business growth.

But, without getting ahead of ourselves, let’s look at the features that are helping businesses grow their funnels and optimise sales processes (Including a powerful new agent which will release in October 2025).

AI-driven Lead Scoring

Available through Sales Insights Premium, AI-based lead scoring allows businesses to automatically evaluate and prioritise leads.

The AI calculates scores using customer data, conversion rates, and any context-specific criteria outlined by the business. The scores are displayed within lead records, which makes it easy to assess customer potential with a quick glance.

With AI-driven lead scoring, businesses can ensure sales workloads are focused on deals, retentions, and growth – not admin.

Guided selling for priority deals

As we’ve seen, Dynamics 365 can help businesses streamline sales processes and reduce workload at the top of the funnel, but that’s not all. Dynamics 365 has powerful guided selling capabilities for qualified leads, too:

  • AI opportunity scoring highlights leads that are most likely to convert to a sale.
  • AI-insights help sales teams move deals along, by suggesting next-best-steps based on historic engagement data.
  • Sequences offer step-by-step guidance for common sales scenarios to guide salespeople through every stage of a deal.

These features turn a standalone record-keeping CRM into a strategic sales engine that helps grow a business.

Tracking customers with Dynamics 365

Dynamics 365 allows businesses to monitor customers in their funnel across multiple channels. By using a combination of built-in features like Assistant, Auto Capture, and Email Engagement, organisations get complete oversight on customer behaviour and data insights in one centralised place.

Each feature has a part to play, as explained below:

  • Auto Capture tracks relevant meetings and emails in Outlook and sends prompts to employees to update the CRM.
  • Email Engagement gives businesses insights into how customers interact with sales emails. This includes per-customer and on average data.
  • Assistant makes actions more visible by creating cards with follow-up reminders and alerts, ensuring sales teams are proactive with customers and business processes are followed.

Automated lead research and qualification

One of the more powerful features slated for release in Dynamics 365 is the Sales Qualification Agent (or SQA). Currently available as a preview feature, it is designed to help sales teams automate lead research and qualification processes.

Sales Qualification Agent will be able to validate email addresses, flag and prioritise high-potential leads, and even hold conversations over email (using company-approved knowledge sources).

If the agent isn’t able to continue the conversation, it will flag the lead, create an email draft, and hand the lead over to a relevant team member.

These capabilities are part of a wave of new releases planned for Dynamics Sales, including Copilot updates and a new hierarchy visualiser - as outlined in our 2025 Dynamics 365 Sales release summary.

New Copilot prompts for email templates

In October 2025, Copilot prompts will be added to email templates in Dynamics Customer Service. This will reduce response time for customers while increasing the productivity of customer service representatives. It will also ensure consistent communication between customers and representatives, as templates and prompts are set company-wide.

When a representative opens an email template in a case, Copilot will automatically add content based on case information and previous communications. The representative simply has to review, sign off, and send (or change) the email.

Gain a competitive edge with Dynamics 365 sales automations

Business growth solutions and sales automations are here to stay, and the journey is just beginning.

As AI capabilities continue to increase, businesses are starting to understand that the value of automations goes far beyond saving time. With them, businesses can scale operations without adding pressure to hire, standardise processes across teams, and help salespeople consistently close more deals.
